Advertising

Within the advertising market space I wanted to show off multiple items for different purposes. These include;

Posters - to be put up around heavy traffic areas in order to garner attention

Leaflets - to be given out at events such as game conventions

Billboards - to be put around locations to show off the game

In order to create the poster like this I needed to take the Specimen character from R.P who had completed the character up till that point. I had a concept for a poster I wanted to make and so with the character I imported into Maya I applied an auto rig.

This meant that I could then freely move and pose the character in a way which suited what I needed. However even with this I found that the characters body was going through the ceiling and was too long for the shot I wanted. Therefore, I deleted a large majority of the Specimen's body to the point only what is visible on the poster is what is left.

I also made a small hallway in Maya and imported everything into Unity, I then added some small assets to look as though they are in the way and proceeded to use lighting effects to produce the outcome I was after.

I showed J.D my original version of this poster and he made some recommendations to change with the lighting and how to change the door at the end of the hallway to increase the overall quality of the poster. I have to say with his help I feel much more confident with the final product.

This is the leaflet which was designed with the purpose of giving out at gaming events. The differences between this and the poster is that this is supposed to be on a much smaller scale with more relevant information such as the platforms it is on and the age rating.

We have also included a QR code which will direct people straight to the website so that they can follow either development of the game or they can attain news regarding the release of the game.

The billboard was created with the intention of being left in high traffic areas that will garner lots of attention. I have also created mock ups for where the image could be displayed.

One of the positions was within Times Square in New York, this could potentially cost 1.1 - 4 Million dollars a year however the reason it costs so much is that when movies are shot in that location they will often use the advertisements that are on display meaning that any advertisements there at the time will be seen many times over.

In order to create the character holding a skull I needed a skull, it was something that was supposed to be within the asset list however modelling a full skull would take far too long and so I suggested to just use a plane with a texture on. This lead to the issue of me not having a skull to use for posing, therefore I needed to find one online which I could use for free. I found one that would suit the character from free3d.com and when I added it to the Maya file it instantly added the same texture set from the Specimen to the skull. While I would normally change it, the skull was dark enough that the texture didn't appear too obvious and so I left it.
